TIP OF THE ICEBERG: A FRACTION OF SERBIA'S ASSISTANCE TO BOSNIAN SERB FORCES
Between October, 1994, and July, 1995, international border monitors observed the following in transit from Serbia into Bosnia:
tanks 512 armored vehicles 506 heavy mortars 120 heavy artillery pieces 130 rocket batteries 48 laser-guided missiles 33 ammunition trucks 368 artillery ammunition trucks 14 gallons of fuel 1.9 millionSource: Ed Vulliamy, "Bosnia: The Secret War," The Guardian (United Kingdom), February 29, 1996. Since only approximately 135 monitors were assigned to patrol only 48 crossing points along Bosnia's 375-mile border with Serbia-Montenegro, Vulliamy called the arms and materiel that they personally observed "the tip of the iceberg."
