Zeljko (Željko) Both

Biography:
Born on 4 May 1973 in Virovitica, mother Mara, father Franjo and has sister Zeljka. Lived in Orahovica until 2005, family today lives in Zadar. Attended Military school in Sarajevo from 1 September 1988 until 16 October 1991. Joined Croatian Army on 23 November 1993 and participated in operations Flash, Storm and Summer 95. Attended NCO school in United States and NCO instructor course in Czech Republic. Zeljko Both received several medals.
Retired from Croatian army on 28 January 2003 and joined Australian Unity Resources Group as security specialist in Iraq. Convoy which Zeljko was escorting was ambush in early afternoon of 17 January 2007 in Baghdad while guarding National Democratic Institute (NDI) founded by The Democratic Party, which was educating Islamic party politicians. He was killed at age 33 just two months before he was supposed to return from Iraq.
Also killed in attack were two other security guards Hungarian and an Iraqi and 28-year-old Andrea Parhamovich from NDI who they were escorting.
Zeljko Both was third Croatian national killed in Iraq after truck drivers Dalibor Burazović and Ivan PavÄević.
