Viktor Bubanj

Biography
Viktor Bubanj was born on 3 December 1918 in Fuzina, some 20 km west of Delnice. His father Franjo was also born in Fuzina in 1871 and his mother Darinka in 1877 in Ljubasina near Gomirja. Viktor was youngest in family of seven Andrija, Marijana, Margareta, Darinka, Ivanka and Marija.
In January 1939, Viktor Bubanj joined Communist Party of Yugoslavia in party cell in Crikvenica lead by Ivan Brozicevic.
In 1939, Bubanj was recruited and sent on 15 February 1940 to school for reserve air force officers. His training took place in Pancevo and then one month of flying in Nish. He returned to Fuzina on 15 February 1941.
Bubanj joined preparations for uprising. In march 1944 by orders from Supreme Headquarters he turned over command of his brigade to Milan Rustanberg. In April he arrived in Italy moved to Africa in late May and finally in July he arrived to pilot school in Krasnodor in Soviet Union were he remained until September 1945.
From 1 October until 16 December 1944, Bubanj made 141 flights on training aircraft. On practical training from 16 December 1944 until 30 May 1945 he made 127 take offs totaling 28 hours of flight on military combat aircraft.
In late 1945 he married Mara Car from Crikvenica, his first daughter Dunja was born in 1946 in Zagreb, daughter Dubravka in 1948 in Belgrade and son Goran in 1956 in Zagreb.
Viktor Bubanj died on Sunday, 15 October 1972 at 10,30h at Military-medical academy from heart attack.
