Jasen Drnasin

Biography:
Born in 1974 in Split, father Anton, mother Anka, and has sister Ivana. When he was ten his family moved to Toronto, Canada.
When war broke out in Croatia, Jasen barely 17 at the time joined Canadian army camp and after finishing training left for Croatia where he joined 4th Guard Brigade in 1992 and served in reconnaissance during entire war and operation Maslenica, Strom and Maestral.
In 1996 he was one of ten chosen amongst 768 candidates from 128 countries and only from Croatia and become first Croatian officer which in 2000 graduated from academy. Invitation to West Point academy was given to Jasen personally by US ambassador in Croatia Peter Galbraith.
After return instead in 4th Guard Brigade he worked as officers for unit training at Training Command of General Staff of Armed Forces on administrative duties.
On 25 February 2001 Jasen badly wounded his fiancé Tanja Milanović (born 1981) by six stabs with pocket knife for which he received suspended sentenced in September 2002 of six months with two years probation, sentence was applied by prosecution and Supreme court returned case back to court but no new hearing was held. This incident also revealed Drnasin's drug problems dating back to his life in Canada which hampered and finally ended his military carrier. In the meantime Jasen and Tanja were married on 1 June 2002 and in May 2005 had a daughter. Also in June 2002 Jasen's contract with Croatian army expired and wasn't renewed and since then he worked different jobs from manual labor to traveling salesman.
Drnasin come to spotlight again when on Sunday, 12 November 2006 in Toronto bus got sprayed in face by paper-spray from security which caused his heart to stop putting in coma for several days. Accusation of police brutally also come up. Although it seemed he was recovering he died on 27 November at age of 32.
