Born in Fürnitz, Austria

Served in 1.Kompanie Gebirgs-Artillerie-Ersatz-Abteilung 118 (Identification-Nr: -740- 1.Geb.Art.Ers.Abt.118) until 1943.

During battle of Knin, Gregor Kusternig was captured as solider of Heeres-Küsten-Artillerie-Regiment 944. (944th Coastal Artillery Regiment) On 3 December 1944 and sent to prison in Sibenik. After he got sick, he was moved to Knin hospital (Opca Bolnica Knin) on 28 March 1945. on 1 April 1945 he was supposed to be moved again to another hospital, but he never got there.
