Matija Murkovic (Murković)
( 1882 - 1944 )
Biography:
Born on 14 November 1882 u Stajnici, district Brinje. After gymnasium he went to Military Academy in Budapest which he finished in 1901. On 18 August 1901 become officer in Croatian Home Defense. As talented swordsman he finished advance swordsman course at Wiener Neustadt and enjoyed reputation of one of the best swordfighter in Monarchy.
From 1907, Murkovic was a teacher at joint Caded school of hugarian-croatian home defense in Pécs. First World War found him as company commander at NCO school in Zagreb.
Married Beata and had sons Borna and Božidar.
