Wolfgang Ritter

Biography

Wolfgang Ritter was born on 10 July 1925 in Hamburg.

He joined German military on 1 October 1943 and completed military training in Stralsund.

Around mid May 1944 he arrived to Venice and was assigned to 'Gustav J. Lurtsche' torpedo boat. Wolfgang was captured by Yugoslav partisan navy NB 6 Kornat in the evening of 1 June 1944. German boats attempted to search unknown vessel in the dark and Ritter crossed to partisan vessel to tie rope when Partisans opened fire on German boats before disappearing into darkness with unconscious Wolfgang onboard. NB 6 arrived to Vis harbor in the morning of 2 June where Wolfgang was taken over for interrogation.
