Biography

After capitulation of Italy carried out negotiations with Jovo LonÄarević and Ivan BarbaÄić-Ivić in order to arrange withdrawal of Italian forces. After receiving ultimatum from General Staff of Croatia to either join Partisans in joint struggle against Germans or surrender all weapons before being allowed to withdraw or face attack decided to stall negotiations on 9 September and during night 9/10 September slipped out of Crikvenica and with staff of the 5th Corps moved to Rijeka (Fiume) causing chaos amongst remaining Italian forces in the city.
