This map is based on a historically accurate event that took place on August 12, 1943 at a German controlled airbase in the Kursk region (Eastern Front).
German Army: General Mission Info
August 12, 1943, Besonovka Airbase (near Kursk, Eastern Front). A Waffen SS unit has been ordered to guard the airbase and its powerful Freya radar against the upcoming Soviet Kursk counter-offensive.
Soviet Army: General Mission Info
Besonovka is the home to a powerful Freya radar that has a 150 mile range radius. With it, the Germans are able to pinpoint strategic Soviet advances and are able to utilize their fighters and bombers with great precision. Soviet forces are ordered to attack and conquer the Besenovka airbase at all cost.
