La Croatie militaire

Illyrian Rifle Regiments
In 1809, Napoleon managed to get a part of Habsburg Military Border under his rule and that part was named "La Croatie militaire" (Military Croatia). On this territory there were 6 Border Regiments which were reorganized into Illyrian Rifle Regiments (Regiments de chasseurs d`Illyrie). There were also known as Croatian Regiments (Regiments croates). In May 1810, there were 16 518 soldiers in 6 regiments.
- 1st Illyrian Rifle Regiment (ex Lika Border Regiment)
- 2nd Illyrian Rifle Regiment (ex Otočac Border Regiment)
- 3rd Illyrian Rifle Regiment (ex Ogulin Border Regiment)
- 4th Illyrian Rifle Regiment (ex Slunj Border Regiment)
- 10th (from May 1810, 5th) Illyrian Rifle Regiment (ex 1st Ban's Border Regiment)
- 11th (from May 1810, 6th) Illyrian Rifle Regiment (ex 2nd Ban's Border Regiment)

For needs of 'Military Croatia', in 1811, the Military School was organized in Karlovac. It had 200 students which were later sent to France to finish their education.
