Many dreaded prison changed numerous owner of the decades from Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Yugoslav kingdom, Germans, Italians, Ustashe, Serbian collaborationist regime only to end up serving there previous regular tenants in the end - Communists.

Begunje Celje German Gestapo near Radovljice, (German: Vigaun) KacenÅ¡tajn Castle (Burg Katzenstein) was used as Upper Carniolan headquarters of the Gestapo. 12,134 hostages were held here, 1282 inmates were killed, others were deported to Nazi concentration camps (989 to Mauthausen).

"Stari Pisker" Celje German

Zagreb Ustashe Military prison in Nova Ves street for deserters (and soldiers who disobeyed orders - mostly Home Defense soldiers), it was considered half prison half camp.

Glavnjaca Belgrade Special Police & Gestapo / Yugoslav After the war Milan Nedic was imprisoned in it and committed suicide and later received communists again before being demolished.
