Territorial losses suffered by Hungary after breakup of A-H monarchy lead Hungary to join Tripartite pact in hope of recovering some territory. After April war Hungary received part of Croatia, Slovenia and Vojovodina but harsh Hungarian rule quickly turned population against them.
