Transit camps

As the name says purpose of Transit camps was collection points for persons that would be sent to other camps or deported. First camps was set up by German during expulsion of Slovenian population to NDH and Serbia and by Ustashe in NDH in there attempt to eliminate Serbian population, later in the war transit camps served for population which was captured in Partisans regions which was usually sent to Death camps. Also many Jews passed through this camps on there way to Death camps in Yugoslavia and other parts of occupied Europe.

Slavonska Požega Slavonska Požega Ustahse Immigration and emigration camp on the outskirts of city, in area called Glis, between military barracks and agricultural school. Founded on July 9th 1941 with housing around 1000 persons in barracks of former artillery camp. It was intended for Serbs which need to be expelled to Serbia and also for Slovenian population which where suppose to settle in NDH. In the beginning former Kingdom of Yugoslavia state officials with families where brought to the camp, then wealthier citizens and after that all others. Camp was under juristic of Ustasha 14th Company. In October 1941 there was 1335 persons in the camp. Then 362 inmates where transported to Serbia while the rest was released back to there homes. Camp was closed on October 22nd 1941.
