Army Group South
Heeresgruppe Süd
History
Army Group South was renamed from Army Group South Ukraine. Its biggest impact on Yugoslav front wasn't any combat operation but instead complete inactivity during Batina operation refusing to send any kind of aid to Army Group F despite obvious threat of Soviet breakthrough which in the end turned entire flank of Army Group South forcing it to retreat from Danube line.
It was renamed once again in April 1945 as Army Group Ostmark after loss of Hungary and was tasked with defense of Austria and remaining parts of Czechoslovakia.
