History
Arriving from Greece and Bosnia on 27 October 1944. Corps was put in charge of a long front in Syrmia and along Danube river all the way to Baja in Hungary. Corps end up facing entire 3rd Ukrainian Front without help from its powerful northern neighbor Army Group South which would prove fatal.
Long defensive line was shorten a little on 11 November when it turned over Syrmia and Danube left bank to Drava river to Corps Group Kubler.
Attempts to destroy and later hold Batina bridgehead quickly depleted not only Corpse reserve but 2nd Panzer Army also leaving no reserves to stop Soviet breakthrough.
After defeat in Batina operation on 4 December Army Group South (generaloberst Johannes Frießner), which until then made little effort to help block Soviet breakthrough despite having almost 40 division of out which 9 armored or mechanized, responsibility was expanded all the way to Drava river and 69th Corps was moved to guard left bank of Drava river from Osijek to Donji Miholjac.
