582 Marine-SchÃ¼tzen-Bataillon - MSB582

History

Formed during German retreat from Dalmatia around 20 October 1944 from parts of the 540th Naval Artillery Battalion together with 581st Naval Rifle Battalions.

while in Å ibenik another company made of personnel from batteries on Zlarin island and near LuÅ¡a was added to battalion.

581st and 583rd Battalion were transferred to DrniÅ¡, 582nd remained in Å ibenik and become part of KG Allermann which was cut off and suffered 154 killed, wounded or missing during breakthrough.

Survivor were added to 581st Battalion as its 4th Company.
