After battle of Batina, remains of divisions were split between Army Groups South and F fighting delaying actions across southern Hungary. Once new front line at lake Balaton begun to stabilize these remains were withdrawn to the rear.
After assembly, remains of division were transferred to Lower Styria (Steiermark), Slovenia which was annexed into Third Reich in 1941. Communications was set up in Maribor (Marburg an der Drau), divisional staff in a castle near Slovenske Konjice (Gonobitz),
