UNS - (Ustasha Control Service)

(Ustaška Nadzorna Služba)

Formed from Ustasha Intelligence Service and Concentration Camps Administration by law decree on 16 August 1941 as intelligence and counter-intelligence agency and political police responsible to Main Ustasha HQ (Glavni Ustaški stan).

UNS Central was divided into four Bureau:

I Bureau - Ustasha police (Ustaško redarstvo) - in charge of political subjects and divided into three departments:

Communist

Jewish

Serbian

II Bureau - Ustasha Intelligence Service (Ustaška obavještajna služba)

III Bureau - Ustasha defense (Ustaška obrana) - representing special military-police formation which organized concentration camps

IV Bureau - Personal department (Osobni odjsek)

Organization changed several times and final was created on 20 April 1942. Intelligence, counter-intelligence and duties of political police where joined into II Bureau, which was divided into 15 departments:

I - Italian - does counter-intelligence work and surveys Italian propaganda

II - investigates activities of British intelligence agency

III - investigates activities of Serbian population and Chetnik movement in NDH

IV - anti-communist - discovers and fights activities CP Croatia and People's Liberation movement

V - investigates activities of Muslim population and does intelligence work towards Turkey

VI - controls Jews and mixed marriages

VII - discovers suspects inside Ustasha political structure (inside Ustasha youth etc.)

VIII - discovers suspects inside administrations of ministries

IX - does insight into activities of person of

X - covers activities of Nazi party in NDH, Volksdeutsche and immigrants in Germany

XI - investigates activities of Hungarian intelligence agency and Hungarians in NDH

XII - cover activities of Slovenians in NDH

XIII - does insight into activities of Catholic church and catholic actions

XIV - covers areas not covered by other departments

XV - counter-intelligence protection of armed forces
