History
Formed from Moscow volunteers.
As part of 68th Rifle Corps took part in Belgrade Operation.
During night of 27/28 September forward elements began to leave Bregovo in Bulgaria and crossed Timok river capturing Mokranj railway station where they were halted by German defenses. With rest of the division arriving in the morning advance was resumed at 12:00 with heavy artillery support towards Kobišnica and Negotin. Kobišnica was partially surrounded and captured by the end of the day.
During 68th Rifle Corps attack on Negotin division reached its outskirts around noon on 29 September. Before attacking town, divisional commander sent reconnaissance group from 1292nd Regiment, lead by experienced scout B.M. Nosovo ahead. Recon group captured three enemy soldiers and gathered info on German defenses allowing effective artillery and airforce support. During street fighting division was supported by 1202nd Self-Propelled Artillery Regiment.
From Negotin division advanced to Bor continued its advance west together with 5th Independent Guard Motorized Rifle Brigade reached Morava river on 8 October and established bridgehead over river in area of Markovac - Lapovo during night of 9/10 October. During this time German 1st Mountain Division was still holding Deli-Jovan mountain blocking path of 75th Rifle Corps but found itself isolated with Yugoslav Partisans arriving to attack it from the rear. Germans attacked south towards Bor and west to link up relief columns, together with Yugoslav Partisans 23rd Division German attack was pushed back to Deli-Jovan mountain. 113th Division was transferred over Great Morava river in order to expand bridgehead advancing South-West.
Division took part in battle for Kragujevac from 14 to 21 October and together with Partisans 17th Division was given task of outflanking German defenses from north-west while 93rd Rifle Division did the same from south-west.
