Virovitica Assault Brigade

(Virovitička udarna brigada)

History

Formed on 28 August 1944 in village of Mala Peratovica in Slavonia from 1st Battalion of 16th Slavonian Youth brigade and Bilogora partisan detachment whose 3 battalions become brigades 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Official celebration with entire brigade present was held in Vukosavljevica, present were 737 fighters and officers. Brigade was armed with:

  • 10 submachine-guns
  • 355 rifles
  • 19 pistols
  • 2 heavy mortars
  • 1 light mortars
  • 1 anti-tank rifle

  • 70 rounds for anti-tank rifle
  • 180 hand grandees

Fought in Slavonia and Podravina as part of 40th Slavonian division.
