1st Lika Assault Brigade

(Prva lička udarna brigada)

Formed on 8 July 1942 in Toboliću, Kordun, as 1st Brigade of Croatia. Fought in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia. Distinguished itself during Fourth (Op. Weiss) offensive, at the beginning of 1943 in liberation of western Lika, in Belgrade operation and on Srem front. For entire time it was part of 6th Lika Proletarian Division. Made Proletarian on 19 March 1944. Decorated with Hero of the people award.
