13th Vojvodina Brigade

(Trinaesta vojvođanska brigada)

History

Brigade was formed on 14 October 1944 in Petrovgrad (Zrenjanin) from 5th Banat partisan detachment and new soldiers from northern Banat. It had 4800 soldiers divided into five battalions.

Until 12 November brigade carried out garrison duties in Banat when it was placed under command of Military administration for Banat, Backa and Baranja. Reorganized as 3rd Brigade of People's Defense it was responsible for guarding the borders with Hungary and Romania and security of all military and industrial installations on territories of northern Backa and Banat. From 18 December 1944 become part of 7th Division of KNOJ.
