13th Corps of NOVJ

(Trinaesti korpus NOVJ)

History

Thirteenth corps was formed on 7 September 1944 with 2nd Proletarian, 22nd and 24th Serbian division NOVJ; soon 2nd Proletarian left while 46th and 47th Serbian division entered the the Corps.

Commander was Ljubo Vuckovic and political commissar Vasilije Smajević.

Fought in southern Serbia and participated Nish operation, liberation of Vlasotin, Leskovac and Vranja and Kosovo operation. By destroying communications prevented retreat of German Army Group E north through Morava valley.

Disbanded on 3 December 1944 and division put under command of General Staff of Serbia.
