20th Dalmatian Division

(Dvadeseta dalmatinska divizija)

History

Twentieth division was formed on 17 October 1943 from 8th, 9th and 10th Dalmatian brigades. Fought in central Dalmatia, division distinguished itself during Knin and Trieste operations.

On 31 August 1944 division strength was 3140 out of which 2188 peasants and 709 workers and others by nationality 3025 Croats and 106 Serbs and other equipped with:

  • 1851 rifles
  • 248 submachine-guns
  • 22 heavy machine-guns
  • 182 light machine-guns
  • 18 various mortars
  • 2065 handgrandees
  • 7 PIAT
  • 6 radios
  • 6 switchboards
  • 21 field telephones
