23rd Serbian Division

(Dvadesettreća srpska divizija)

History

Formed on 6 June 1944 in Toplica from 7th and 9th Serbian brigades, later 14th joined the division. Initial named Third Serbian division. Fought in Serbia, Bosna and Croatia. Participated in liberation of eastern Serbia, battles around Belgrade, liberation of Gracanica, Derventa and as part of Una operational group advance towards Karlovac and Samobor.
