43rd Istrian Division

(Četrdesettreća istarska divizija)

History

Formed on 29 June 1944 from 1st, 2nd and 3rd Istrian Brigade. On the day of the forming division had 3.521 soldiers out of which:

2.532 Croats

311 Italians

11 Slovenians

10 Serbs

4 others nationalities

Fought in Istra, Gorski Kotar and Croatian Littoral, and temporarly in Slovenia, Pokupje and Žumberak. Division suffred 483 killed during the war.
