9th Dalmatian Division

History

Yugoslav Partisans 9th Dalmatian division was first formed on 11 February 1942 during operation WEISS. Disbanded after operation SCHWARTZ with manpower used to reinforce existing brigades.

Carried out landings on Pag, Rab, Cres and Lošinj islands. During night of 24/25 April, from northernmost parts of Cres island, begun landings on Istrian peninsula between Breseć and Mošćenićka Draga. Night landings lasted from 24 to 27 April involving boasts of Yugoslav Navy Northern Adriatic Naval Command and 4 allied landing crafts.

On 26 April 2nd Dalmatian Proletarian Brigade attacked rear of the German 97th Corps holding the front at Riječina, most 3rd Brigade followed behind immediately after landing on the following day taking position on the left flank of 2nd Brigade.

On 30 April division had on paper 8098 fighters out of which 372 where women, active strength dropped to 6901 equipped with:
