Garibaldi Natisone Division

(Garibaldi Natizone Divizija)

History

Formed on August 17th 1944 west from river Natison from two Italian Garibaldi brigades (Natisone and Friuli). On August 21st brigade Osoppo was added and division was renamed Garibaldi-Osoppo, but in late September it reorganizes into three Garibaldi brigades:

  • 156th Bruno Buozzi
  • 157th Giudo Picelli
  • 158th Antonio Gramsci

and original name was returned. From November 7th 1944 to middle of April 1945 it was part of 9th Corps of NOV Slovenia and after that it was reorganized into one brigade and become part of 7th Corps and together with Fontanot brigade formed Garibaldi Fontanot division.
