Junkers Ju 52 'Tante Ju'
History
During April war it was used to land troops to capture Bijeljina airfield. Until the end of the war it served as main transport aircraft. It was also used during airborne assault during operation Rösselsprung.
Large number of flights resulted in many accidents and combat losses:
- 12 August 1943 - Ju 52 crashed while transporting soldiers of 100th Jager Division from Skopje to Å ejak resulting in 5 dead and 7 badly wounded
- 12 August 1943 - another Ju 52 was lost on that day when flying Sarajevo to Zagreb run into storm and crashed near Sisak leaving 11 dead including commander of Fliegerführer Südost-Kroatien (Air Command Croatia) Lieutenant General Wolfgang von Chamier-Glisczinski
- 30 September 1943 - Ju 52 was destroyed on the Sinj airfield by artillery fire of 1st Proletarian division, it was used as part of transport 7th SS division which had task to disarm Italian army and take port city of Split
