History
Formed during summer of 1944, it arrived to Istria in August 1944 as part of Adriatic Operational Zone until November later part of 97th Army Corps.
Mostly fought against Istrian partisan detachments and 43rd Istrian Division while fortifying coastline against possible allied landings.
On 10 April 1945, Yugoslav 4th Army liberated Senj and division with two of its regiments was sent to line Zlobin-Crikvenica where it was to gather remains of 392nd Division and halt advance of 4th Army towards Susak, Rijeka and Klana. From 16 April division was heavily engaged falling back to Rijeka while its third regiment in Istria attempted to halt 9th Dalmatian division which landed at Labin and was advancing towards Pazin and Buzet.
Most of the division was still fighting around Rijeka when on 3 May 1945 come orders from 97th Army Corps for breakout from encirclement over Rupe towards Ilirska Bistrica. Division reached objective only to be forced to surrender on 7 May together with rest of 97th Corps.
