944th Army Coastal Artillery Regiment
944 Heeres-Küsten-Artillerie-Regimenter HKAR944
History
Formed in Bihać at the beginning of December 1943 from personnel transferred from Germany, Norway and English Channel.
From February to April 1944 it was reformed from three to four battalions.
Part of 15th Mountain Corps tactically subordinated to naval command.
HQ was located in Drniš. During German withdrawal from Dalmatia in operation HERBSTGEWITTER staff was transferred first to Knin and then to Bihać.
During final months Regiment had one battalion left with 1st and 2nd Battery located in Jablanac and 3rd and 4th in Senj. Staff of Yugoslav 4th Army didn't have knowledge of these units.
