Operation WALDTEUFEL

History

Operation of German 91st Army Corps from 6th to 23rd March 1945 as part of German offensive in Hungary. 11th Luftwaffe Field Division crossed Drava river near Valpovo and together with 1st Cossack Cavalry Division advanced towards Bolman and Torjanci. Near Donji Miholjac 104th and 297th Division crossed Drava river into Hungary and inflicted heavy losses on Bulgarian 1st Army. Counterattack of 3rd Yugoslav Army pushed 1st and 11th Division back across Drava as did counterattack of 3rd Ukrainian Front with 104th and 297th divisions.
