Operation WINTERENDE

(Operation End of Winter)

History

Second part of the offensive was codenamed WINTERENDE, with task of clearing central part of Slovenian littoral

Started at the same time as the first part on 19 March, but in initial period Germans mainly limit themselves on blocking main part of 9th Corps NOVJ in wider area of Trnovska forest

In this part of the offensive took part around 23.000 Axis soldiers. The offensive finally ended on 6 April 1945, when the 9th Corps NOVJ had only around 1500 combat capable soldiers.
