2nd Proletarian Assault Brigade
(Druga Proleterska Udarna Brigada)
History
Formed on 1 March 1942 in ÄŒajniÄe. Fought in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia. Participated in Third (Trio), Fourth (Op. Weiss), Fifth (Schwarz), advance into Bosnian krajina, Andrijevica and Belgrade operation and on Srem front. During the war it carried out around 120 larger and around 180 smaller attacks on cities and enemy strongholds, crossing over 24000 km.
Members of the brigade are credited with capture of German major Arthur Strecker.
