12th Corps of NOVJ

(Dvanaesti korpus NOVJ)

History

Twelfth corps was formed on 1 July 1944 in eastern Bosnia from the 16th and 36th Vojvodina division later joined by the 51st Vojvodina division. Fought in Bosnia, Herzegovina, Serbia, Vojvodina, Baranja, Podravina and Moslavina. Participated in Durmitor operation, in liberation of several places in western Serbia and Srem, Belgrade operation, crossing of Danube at Batina and Vukovar, on Virovitica and bolmanskom bridgehead. Becomes part of 3rd Army on 1 January 1945, corps headquarters was disbanded on 28 March 1945.
