3rd Assault Division

(Treća Udarna Divizija)

History

Formed on 9 November 1942 in Perduh Selo on Glamočko field from 5th Montenegro, 1st Dalmatian and 10th Herzegovina Brigade. Distinguished itself in Fourth offensive in battle at Neretva and for Prozor. During Fifth offensive (o. Schwarz) it suffered huge losses and was broken. Reorganized, participated in Andrijevica, Durmitor, Sarajevo and Karlovac operation and in capture of 7th SS Division 'Prinz Eugen' and 373rd Infantry Division 'Tiger'.
